Gardena, CA The City of Gardena was named Los Angeles County’s “Most Business-Friendly City” during the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC)’s 27th Annual Eddy Award on November 9, 2022. Gardena Mayor Tasha Cerda, along with Mayor Pro Tem Paulette Francis, Councilmember Rodney Tanaka, Mark Henderson, Wanda Love and City staff, accepted the award on behalf of the City.

Every year, the Eddy Awards recognize those cities which are doing the most to encourage job creation, facilitate ease-of-doing-business, and cutting through red tape.

“The City of Gardena is truly honored to receive the 2022 Most Business-Friendly City Award. The City of Gardena considers business friendliness a mindset, an attitude, and something we strive for every day, and many large manufacturers, restaurants, retailers, and entertainment companies call Gardena home.” said Mayor Cerda. “We demonstrated commitment to cutting through red tape and provided programs and activities to facilitate existing businesses and business expansion and attraction. Our team has had to embrace technology, social media, and innovative strategies more than ever before to continue moving us forward despite the barriers brought before us.”

Gardena strives to provide welcoming customer service to businesses and industries that choose to establish, relocate or expand within the City.  As the City Council and staff continue to seek innovative ways to grow and strengthen our business community, both residential and commercial developers continue to invest within our borders. The high number of new developments currently occurring, along with our existing established businesses, demonstrate Gardena’s strength and ongoing commitment to preserving a pro-business and friendly mindset.

Gardena was selected as the Most Business Friendly City with a population greater than 60,000. El Segundo was also recognized in the under 60,000 category, as well as Santa Clarita in the over 60,000 category.
